Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that takes place annually on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Thanksgiving. This year Centro Guanin is asking for us all to band together to bring an all-terrain transportation vehicle to the Guanin Center. If everyone came together for just one day the impact would be more than you can imagine.
Background
Last year 380 million dollars were donated on just one day and more and more are giving each year, as the total amount donated went up over 38% from 2017. That's amazing! This year we hope to focus this energy on something that the Guanin Center will benefit from directly.
One huge hurdle for the community are the road conditions. There are very few vehicles in the area, as the terrain makes it impossible to go any faster than a humble 5 miles an hour. We are hoping to gain an additional mode of transportation to support the newly constructed medical building and work as an emergency ambulanace. It will also have the capcity to tranport volunteers to and from the city over the rough terrain. We are purchasing a 4x4 8 passenger van with a diesel engine which has been valued at $12,000. Additional accessories to make it ready for the Center’s needs, along with shipping and taxes total about $6,000, bringing our entire goal to $18,000.
