Akwaaba Friends!

If you couldn't already tell, I am planning on heading back to the wonderful country of Ghana, Africa except this time around I am going with a smaller group of friends, and with my school!

Never in a million years would I ever imagine myself growing up to be apart of God's global church, and if you know me at all, I would have never thought that I could be enough to be chosen for this work. Feelings of inadequacy, and doubt constantly flood my mind of what "I" am capable of and question how I could possibly impact someone's life across the world. But friends, I have made a crucial mistake, because I myself am not capable of anything. But my God who is my rock and firm foundation has equipped me for His work to be done here on earth. And my prayer for all of you reading this is to encourage you and URGE you to understand how you are just as involved in this vision of restoration and empowerment that our God seeks for His people all over the world (starting right in our backyards!).

The trip will take place this winter break, December 29-January 12, and we will be traveling to Ghana with a team of students to serve with Action Child Mobilization (ACM), a long-term ministry working with children in the Northern part of the country. At this camp, girls from local villages in the Upper East Region of Ghana will be brought in and treated like royalty (Nabia in the native tongue) and will be taught about God the Father’s love for them. Each of these girls, connected to ACM’s ministry, have gone through an application process to come be a part of the camp and are seeking to deepen their faith. Many of these girls are affected by poverty and parental neglect, and they desire to know God the Father who lavishes love upon them. As a part of this camp, they will have opportunities for deep fellowship, play, and spiritual growth. This camp will begin a year-long fellows program through ACM where each girl will be mentored by a Godly woman who has herself broken out of the poverty cycle.

Our team gets the opportunity to join ACM in serving the girls during this camp, where we will build relationships with the girls and show them the real, tangible love of their Father. As a team, we have personally committed ourselves to several training sessions and small-group meetings geared towards preparing us for the cultural differences, growing experiences, and relationships we will encounter and develop in Ghana.

But as usual, to make this trip possible, our team cannot go without you. The cost of travel, food, lodging, and other trip components comes to $3500 per person. Our goal is to raise this money by December 11, 2019. I am not sending out this post or link to make you feel pressured or guilt you into making a donation, and I hope that you would feel peace about any contribution you make no matter the size. I pray that you would feel no obligation to contribute, but out of the hunger of wanting to experience more, or learn more about God's power, that then you may feel the desire to give. My aim in sending out this message is to share the opportunity I have with you and give you the option to play just as an influential role in sparking change into our world.

I am participating in this mission because I believe in the power of God to usher his daughters into his love and ultimately use them for his Kingdom glory, but also to empower these girls so that they themselves can become leaders and be on a mission to quite frankly not need us. I pray that these girls would someday come to America to help teach us here how to minister well to our communities.

Most importantly, we ask for your prayer and support as we prepare to leave. Our hope is that on every step of the journey, people back home will be praying for us, thinking about us, and supporting us.

For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever

Love,

Steph
