In January I signed up to train for a half marathon to raise money for scholarships so that underprivileged kids could attend Barefoot Republic Camp. During the year my friends and family contributed over $2,300, and as a group we raised over $68,000 (that’s a lot of scholarships at $250 each). A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that contributed.
Originally I thought I would do this one time and check that off the list of things I’ve done (not sure I would say it was on any kind of bucket list though…). But, I came to realize I enjoyed the process, connected with some great people around the country, and my overall health improved significantly. So, I’m signing up to do this again. My goals for 2021 are to raise $2,500 and complete the Rock and Roll half marathon in Nashville in April, and hopefully I can finish in under 2 ½ hours (my best time so far is just over 3 hours).
COVID has brought about many challenges for people all over the world, and the need to provide support for scholarships for underprivileged kids is even greater this year. I would really appreciate it if you consider a donation to this great cause. All amounts are tax deductible and honestly any amount is appreciated. Just click on the link to go to the donation page.
For my family and friends that may not be familiar with Barefoot Republic Camp here is a quick summary “It's a camp and retreat center with programs that focus on cultivating Christ-centered relationships between individuals and families from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Camps take place at their Kentucky Retreat and Event Center (residential weekend camps for families and week-long residential summer camps for kids) and day camps (hosted locally at places like Christian singer Amy Grant's farm and local churches across multiple states and cities). There are so many things that make Barefoot Republic special - but one of the most important parts is that NO PARTICIPANT is denied because of their ability to pay for a program. They just figure it out...”
Thanks,
