My Name is Peter Shipman. I am the Director of Creative Arts at Fit to Recover, a non-profit community center that serves people recovering from substance abuse and other mental health crises. I am lucky enough to work for a company that has been the keystone of my own recovery journey, and I am asking for donations to ensure that this place will continue to thrive and save lives.

I found Fit to Recover in 2017, and I can't imagine what my world would look like had I never walked through those doors. I have been blessed to receive unconditional support from friends, family, and colleagues throughout my battle with addiction, and for that, I am eternally grateful. I am lucky enough to work with many of those individuals, and Fit to Recover will continue to be the community that allows me to thrive and give back.

Our Creative Arts program is a wonderful mix of music, art, and community service that provides a safe space for people in treatment centers, transitional housing, or those simply trying to maintain their own sobriety. Many of our members don't have access to art and music supplies, and Fit to Recover is honored to fill in the gap between a creative idea and the expression of that idea by providing the requisite tools. However, the program is still in its infancy, and we are in real need of canvases, instruments, music stands, paint, pens, paper, and audio/video equipment.

If you are able; please donate! I promise your money will go directly into the program in the form of necessary equipment, and that you will be contributing to an increasingly difficult fight against addiction and mental health disorders. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generosity!

Love,

Peter Shipman
