NOW IT’S OUR SHELTER’S TURN FOR A GLOW-UP.

For 40 years, the Humane Society of the North Bay has been a lifeline for animals in Vallejo and throughout Solano County. We provide shelter, medical care, second chances, and a path home for dogs and cats who need us.

And we get results.

Last year alone, 709 animals came through our doors. We celebrated 223 adoptions, 265 lifesaving transfers to trusted rescue partners, and 116 reunions with families. We also provided 196 spay and neuter surgeries—helping animals today while reducing future shelter intake.

SHELTERING HAS CHANGED. OUR FACILITY NEEDS TO CHANGE WITH IT.

HSNB has served this community for four decades, and much of our facility reflects an older model of animal sheltering: house animals safely, keep kennels clean, and wait for adoption.

Today, we know animals need much more.

Modern sheltering is about interaction, enrichment, movement, choice, and connection. Dogs need opportunities to leave their kennels, play, socialize, and decompress. Cats need stimulating spaces that allow them to climb, explore, and relax. Shy and stressed animals need quieter areas. Potential adopters need welcoming places to spend meaningful time with an animal before deciding to bring them home.

That’s what our HSNB GLOW-UP is about.

We want to transform aging, underused, and institutional spaces into environments designed around the animals who actually live here: improved kennels and pass-throughs, dedicated play and enrichment areas, better meet-and-greet spaces, upgraded cat areas, safer and more comfortable housing, and long-overdue repairs and modernization throughout our campus.

This isn’t about making the shelter fancy.

WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY.

HSNB is an independent nonprofit. We receive no funding from a national humane society, and the limited public funding we receive covers only a small portion of what it costs to operate our shelter. Roughly 80% of our budget must be raised from our community.

For 40 years, this community has helped us take care of its animals.
