Habitat for Humanity San Bernardino Area, Inc. was founded in 1992 by Patrick J. Morris and his wife Sally Morris.  Patrick and Sally attended a Habitat Blitz Build in Mexico, along with former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter, where over 100 homes were built for low income families.  Upon their return, Patrick and Sally decided to start a Habitat for Humanity affiliate serving the greater San Bernardino County Area, and completed their first home build for a low-income family in 1994.   Over 24 years later, we now serve approximately 150 families a year in the San Bernardino County with four major programs.

As of October 2017 we have had 34 homeowners and will gain two more with the new homes being built in the city of Grand Terrace.  Eight of our homeowners have paid of their mortgages and now own their homes outright.

Habitat for Humanity San Bernardino Area, Inc. is a faith based non-profit organization with the mission of eliminating poverty housing. We plan to achieve this mission by providing decent, affordable housing for low-income families by bringing together the necessary volunteers, experienced help, suppliers, city and government agencies, and families to form partnerships in an atmosphere of God’s love for all people.

The organization is based on Christian principles and is open to everyone regardless of faith, including the Board of Directors, partner families and volunteers. Habitat is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 corporation and is included in group exemption number 8545.
