Meet Chester! Have you ever seen a cuter guy? That face, that hair. Chester wants to be a rock star like Billy Idol….hence the do.

Chester is looking good on the outside but there are things going on with him that cannot be seen needing attention….he is heartworm positive and has been treated recently for extensive dental issues.

Chester is about five years old and his back story is a sad one.  Just a few months ago, he was living in the bed of a truck with his 7 siblings. Turns out he was used as a stud so that his offspring could be sold in parking lots of local discount stores. The Animal Control Officer from a local shelter took possession of this group when these transactions were observed.

It turned out to be Chester’s lucky break as he was made available to rescue groups and Take Me Home Pet Rescue (TMHPR) stepped up and took him into the adoption program.

When he went in for his neuter surgery, it was discovered that he had serious dental issues and he also tested positive for heartworm. His dental issues made eating painful and difficult and recently a number of extractions were done to provide some relief.  He is now able to eat pain free!

Currently, Chester is undergoing heartworm treatment. This is serious and heartworm treatment takes at least 60 days to complete and consists of a series of drug injections that kills the worms. There is only one drug approved to kill adult heartworms in dogs, an organic arsenical compound that is injected into the dog's lumbar or back muscles. This is a painful and necessary treatment that Chester is going through.

This sweet and deserving dog’s heartworm status and extensive dental issues have been and will continue to be expensive and TMHPR would be appreciative for donations to cover some of the costs associated with Chester’s treatment.

Can we count on you to help Chester smile again and love with a healthy heart?

Thanks!
