Hera's healing continues.
8.2.2021 -- Hera went to the vet for her re-check. The antibiotics seem to be doing the trick! She continues to recover well. What she needs now is plenty more rest, giving her little body the time it needs to heal.
We are grateful to Hera's vet for their careful attention--and beyond grateful that Hera's injury turned out to be an infection, and not a full blown break or fracture.
Our very own goddess, Hera, has been feeling a little grumpy lately--probably because her ankle has been swollen and painful! We noticed she was laying about more than usual. On closer look, we found she doesn't want to put any weight on her leg! We thought maybe she had fractured something, but when we got her to the vet, her x-rays were fine. Instead, they noticed a lymph node in her leg was swollen, leading her veterinary team to suspect she has an infection in her JOINT!
An infection like this is incredibly painful, and would certainly explain her reluctance to walk or bear weight on her leg. We started her on antibiotics straight away. She is on pain medication, and has been given strict orders to take it easy while we wait to see whether her joint responds to the treatment.
To cover all our bases, we sent her x-rays along to the radiologist to get their official opinion. For now, we wait and see how Hera heals.
