Hello! For everyone that knows Russell, he is going be having heart surgery - details in story

$325

raised by 4 people

$5,000 goal

Hello everyone! Most of you know my amazing and awesome fiance/hubby Russell (some of you know him as Sideways), this fundraiser is to help with the medical expenses for his heart and surgery to remove pacemaker and replace with a defibrillator.

Russell had a pacemaker put in November 16th, 2020 after he had 4 strokes and heart attack due to AFib. Since then his heart and everything had been doing good, until August 22nd of this year, when I rushed him to the ER. They had informed us that night that Russell was in severe AFib, that he had multiple blood clots in his lungs and that we were to look at the clots like a giant enyurism - that could possibly burst and go to his brain causing a severe stroke or death - was not what either of us wanted to hear, but they were possibly going to be stopping and restarting his heart to get his heart back to normal rhythm. We had a follow up September 18th to go over that ER visit with one of his cardiologist, she let us know that for next 3 months if not longer (with the help of his blood thinner, which he will be on that indefinitely) the blood clots would slowly go away (and that him spitting blood would continue til they were gone), she discussed that they were going to be upgrading his pacemaker (stopping his heart to remove pacemaker) installing a defibrillator (shocking and restarting 🤞 🙏 his heart).

As you all know this comes with a hefty price that Medicare/Medicaid does not cover all of 😞 and we are doing our best to raise funds to cover those expenses along with the medications to clear up blood clots and make his heart somewhat normal again.

Update: Russell has an Electrologist appointment on October 9th to discuss heart monitor and defibrillator, Cardiologist appointments on October 19th (to go over his BP diary - that we have been doing daily since his ER visit August 22/23) & November 3rd. We are still unsure of doctors are going to attempts to do the ablation (that was originally scheduled for April 2021 - with all the COVID craziness it had gotten cancelled 😞)

Update: Russell has seen his electrologist twice, his heart rate is running very high (208-241 sitting still relaxing) his cardiologist has put him on another medication to bring top number of his BP down (goal is 140), it is slowly working. They are talking about shocking his heart to try and stop his Afib (this is the first step of many before surgeries happen).
