HELP! Last week one of our shelter partners in rural Virginia reached out to us with an emergency. The shelter was already at 100% capacity when animal control informed them they were bringing in 40 MORE DOGS from a hoarding case. These neglected dogs needed to be moved into the shelter ASAP but with no room, the shelter would have been forced to euthanize countless animals to make space. Homeward Trails worked with businesses and organizations in the local community who stepped up and made space for dozens of animals within HOURS to save them and still make space for the incoming animals who needed it.
Now, we need YOUR help. These dogs were given a second chance with a temporary spot to land outside the shelter but the space is just that - TEMPORARY. HT is working with several other NOVA organizations to move 15 dogs and 5 cats out of this rural community TOMORROW but we need your help to cover the cost of transport as well as the vetting for the 8 dogs HT will keep in our care.
Several of these dogs were seized from homes due to neglect. 2 dogs are seniors who need a soft spot to enjoy their golden years. One dog will need expensive cherry eye surgery in BOTH eyes. All of these dogs will need immediate care and compassion. We are so grateful that the community was able to provide for these animals in their time of urgent need and we CANNOT let them down now. Please, help us get these dogs on a transport tomorrow and one step closer to their forever homes!
