Back To School Bookbag Giveaway

Did you know:  One out of every four Metro Atlanta and Atlanta Area child lives below the poverty line? By the 3rd grade, these students are, on average, already two years behind their peers in reading and math. (And, early reading has been identified as key to future success in STEAM-related subjects.)

At retail, a backpack with school and STEAM-based supplies can range from $65 (Elementary) to $100 (High School). For those living under the federal poverty line, often there are no funds left over for books and school supplies - even the basics of pencils and paper. When these supplies are not available in the home, homework often goes undone.

The price children pay for their families’ financial situation undermines their education in other ways, too. It destabilizes their self-esteem and confidence and can create emotional trauma and personal issues that negatively affect performance in school and beyond.

Blessings Working Together, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) located in metro Atlanta dedicated to impacting the lives of young children in the metropolitan Atlanta community. We along with 12 other nonprofit organizations (listed below) have partnered together to put on the biggest Back to School event for the community on July 25, 2020.

There has never been a greater opportunity to make an impact in the lives of young children in the metropolitan Atlanta community than now. However, because of the financial circumstances of many of their families, there has also never been a greater need for support. Thus, as a pillar of our community, we recognize your value to the local residents we serve and would like to extend an invitation for you to further support it by donating to Blessings Working Together. We humbly ask that you consider making a generous contribution to our Annual Collaborative Back 2 School Drive, so that we can continue providing fundamental support to children grades K-12. Your donation can make the impossible possible for the children of Atlanta whose families are struggling to make ends meet due to a number of unimaginable circumstances including Covid-19 whom are reaching out for our help. In meeting these needs, Blessings Working Together maintains the highest standards of stewardship with the resources entrusted to us.

We are requesting a monetary and/or an in-kind donation of back packs and school supplies to serve an estimated 1000 children. Our goal is to collectively raise $10,000 by July 12, 2020. To that end, we are asking that you help invest in the countless children in Atlanta and in the Metro Atlanta area who are taking actionable steps to achieve sustainability and self-sufficiency.
