We live in difficult times. Around the country, schools, businesses and theatres are opening for business. Some theatres are touting their safety measures for their live in-person performances. We understand. We have lost money and been thrown into turmoil. But the science is clear and in the midst of a pandemic with rising rates of infection in many parts of the country and politicized responses that don't address how to stem the impact of the virus, we feel there is no safe way to do in-person performances or rehearsals. So where do we go from here? Hub Theatre Group is dedicated to creating innovative online theatrical projects focusing on social issues. This is a time for artists to focus on what is happening in their communities and society at large. Our "Profiles in Activism" program focuses on activism and social justice issues. Our most recent effort, "Dream Unrealized: The James Baldwin Project" brought talented young actors together to create original pieces to complement the words of James Baldwin. That project has been selected by Broadway ON Demand for their Access Broadway Classroom Series. In order to continue to produce theatre focused on activism, social justice and a meaningful call for change and to shift to providing online content until it is safe to do live performances, we need your help. We are announcing our "Act5" fundraiser. We're asking for a donation of $5 to show your support for safe, meaningful theatre focusing on social justice issues.
