It's Walkathon time again! 🚶 🚶 🚶
Every October, as the weather cools and the kids start to get antsy with their school routine, Berwyn Heights Elementary School students put down their books for the day and rejuvenate with an outdoor mini-field trip. The entire school walks through town to our local lake where we have lunch, play games and enjoy some fresh air and time out of the classroom!
Students collect sponsorships for this day trip and the money collected enables the PTA to fund lots of activities and programs throughout the school year.
The goal of the BHES PTA is to enhance the experience that our children have in school. One way we do this by hosting seasonal celebrations: in the fall, we have a family festival that we call Hello Husky Night; in winter, we host an Ice Skating Party; and in the spring, we celebrate the warm weather with an end-of-year party! The PTA also uses the money collected from the Walkathon to pay for field trip transportation; purchase school supplies, recess equipment, and Scholastic Book subscriptions; and support our outdoor classroom program as well as other school clubs.
The Walkathon is our primary fundraiser for the school year and we depend on the money we raise to continue supporting enrichment activities for our kids.
Please consider donating! We appreciate every penny!
