Your support develops Philadelphia students' confidence, creativity, and unique identities through the majesty of the harp, successfully positioning them on a path to become confident leaders in our world. Your donations will add more lessons for exponentially excelling students, and help spread our life-changing programming to more students at new schools!
From Jermoyah: (Lyra alum, Bowdoin College)
"Playing the harp has taught me discipline, structure, love, grit and a thousand more qualities that I could go on and on about. Because of the harp I sit straighter, I walk with purpose, and I always arrive at least 30 minutes before an event starts. I take the harp with me wherever I go, whether it be an interview or a family function. Everyone knows I play and love the harp so much; it is woven into my very personality. No matter what school I attend or what job I may have, I will always be able to say that I am a Harpist.”
Lyra opens doors, creating extraordinary opportunities for its graduates. 100% of Lyra's graduates go to college, university, and conservatory; and are mentored when they become alums to make sure they graduate college. Many of our students are the first in their families to pursue higher education, and many attend college/conservatory on merit scholarships.
The Lyra Society promotes cultural equity through access to harp education to under-resourced, economically challenged children in Philadelphia public schools. Lyra provides harps, harp lessons, harp presentations, and college and financial aid counseling (regardless of intended major) at no cost to Philly kids
