Ian Eperthener

Transplant Type: Kidney and Pancreas

Ian Eperthener has been given a second chance at life. He battled Type-1 diabetes for more than 18 years. It took a toll on his body, and by 2018, his kidney function was around 35%. His nephrologist placed him on a strict renal diet in an attempt to slow the deterioration. Unfortunately, the following year he learned his kidney function was down to 17%.  His illness left him tired and affected his quality of life. Doctors said a kidney and pancreas transplant was critical. Luckily, Ian received his lifesaving kidney and pancreas transplant on 11/19/2020!

During this difficult time, Ian is thankful for the love and support of his family and friends. Due to the progression of his diabetes, Ian has lost 95% of his eyesight and moved back in with his parents so they can help care for him. Ian enjoys working on cars, but his failing eyesight and constant pain prevented him from doing so now. He looks forward to recovering fully from his transplant that will restore his energy and regulate his blood sugar. He hopes it will relieve his pain and allow him to move out on his own again. Ian wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can enjoy life with his family and have more energy. But right now, he needs your help.

Unfortunately, Ian’s new life comes at a very high price.

Even though Ian’s surgery has already taken place, he still faces significant medical expenses related to the surgery. He will continue to need a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications, which are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. At this time in his transplant journey, Ian needs help to afford the expensive prescriptions needed to keep his kidney and pancreas healthy.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Ian. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Indiana Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Ian Eperthener” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
