At this point in time, the Jerusalem Marathon is scheduled for October 29, 2021. This is the major fundraiser for the Shira Pransky Project, which is so dear and close to our hearts because of the important work that we are doing.  The idea for this Project came as a result of our experience during the illness of our beloved daughter, Shira, Z”L, who passed away at 26 years old , leaving her young toddler, Yosef Zerachia and her wonderful husband, Gabe. Unbeknown to us, we lost many benefits to which Shira and we were entitled, which certainly would have made life easier for us during those difficult years. Recognizing that we were not alone, Gabe formed this organization so that nobody else in Israel would  lose out on the rights to which they are entitled, due to lack of knowledge. We contact thousand of people  both by our online presence, informative articles, workshops as well as individual and personalized assistance, to help people with their lack of information of their medical rights.

I am hoping to walk 5 kilometers in the Marathon, and, in honor of my 83rd birthday, a week ago, I made sure that I was able to do so by walking 5 kilometers.

Please open your hearts and donate to this wonderful cause. All donations are tax deductible both in the US (Donate button) and in Israel (Link above).

Our Mission:

The Shira Pransky Project educates and assists immigrants in Israel to understand and access their healthcare rights, benefits, and medical care.

Lack of familiarity with the healthcare system, language barriers, and gaps in cultural competence means immigrants in Israel miss out on significant benefits to which they are entitled, or experience delays in timely medical care through the HMOs. We address these issues by providing English language resources, educational programs, and individual guidance and assistance.

Our Values and Operating Principles:

  • We believe immigrants in Israel are entitled to know and understand all their healthcare rights.
  • We are dedicated to educating immigrants in their healthcare rights and benefits so they do not feel they need pay for private medical services, when they are infact entitled to free care.
  • We are determined to maintain the highest level of continuity of care for new immigrants.
  • We understand the need for immigrants to receive individual assistance in order to access their medical care.
  • Our English language resources, educational programs, and individual guidance can be modeled to assist any immigrant population in Israel.
