I’m Back!

I'm very grateful for the opportunity the Friends of the Hopkinton Seniors provided me to run the 2023 Boston Marathon! I’m excited to add this incredible event to the list of races I have participated in over the past few years!

You may remember that we helped raise thousands of dollars in years past for this fantastic charity. Unfortunately, due to a few pesky stress fractures in my foot, I was unable to participate in the race, and in 2020 time when COVID-19 caused the event to be canceled. However, we raised a great deal of money for a great local community that got much-needed funding and support.

This fantastic charity provides residents of the local and surrounding communities with a place where seniors can spend time away from home, socialize and participate in a variety of activities to enrich their lives. The local senior community is a vibrant group of people, and in a time with rising costs of everyday activities, it is important to help them with much-needed resources to help them live fulfilling lives. I’m dedicating my run to the local seniors in hopes that they will find joy in the activities and assistance that these funds will provide. Senior communities are unfortunately often overlooked as a group that needs help. Living on a fixed and often limited income can prevent this group from enjoying their well-earned retirement. Please help me to support my local community by donating to this worthy cause. Thank you!

More information about my charity -

The Hopkinton Senior Center has received one 2023 Boston Marathon Invitational Entry for a marathon runner to fundraise for the many activities, transportation & nutrition programs that make the Center a vibrant part of the community of Hopkinton. I am happy to say that we have a very enthusiastic, hard-working team member who has been offered the opportunity to run the prestigious marathon - Jon Kalus.

The Senior Center primarily serves the needs of senior citizens but is open to all ages to benefit from its many programs. The Senior Center houses a full commercial kitchen, so it is able to provide a made-from-scratch luncheon meal every weekday.

As a plus, the Senior Center is located adjacent to the senior housing complex making it easily accessible to many of the town's senior citizens. Donations go a long way to help the dedicated staff, and many volunteers make the Hopkinton Senior Center seem like a 'home away from home' rather than a 'place to go.'

Thank you to those who have supported us in the past. And thank you for considering donating to us by visiting this page.    Dolores Ivester, Friends of the Hopkinton Seniors.
