Hazel passed her first test!
Hello all,
We have some great news to share. Hazel went to see Dr. Powell at Atlanta Veterinary Eye Clinic and she passed the test to determine if she's a candidate for surgery. We're happy to say she passed the test, she is a candidate, and if we can raise enough money she'll be able to regain around 80% of her vision.
This is where you come in. We've raised almost $500 which is fantastic, but that didn't totally cover this first appointment. We need to raise about $2,000 total to get this sweet gal the medical care she deserves.
When you donate, 100% of your donations go to the care of Hazel, and if there is any leftover it will go to the care of the other rescue dogs at LLOV. We are totally volunteer-run.
Help little Hazel out!
This is Hazel Mae, a sweet chihuahua mix with a cataract we'd like to treat. You might be thinking, "A cataract? She must be old!" and honestly, that's what we at LLOV HQ thought, too.
Imagine our surprise when Hazel went into heat shortly after coming into rescue (!!) and we discovered she was really only about TWO YEARS OLD! Our veterinary specialists told us she likely has a genetic issue causing the cataract at such a young age, but, more importantly, there is a strong chance we can correct it.
Hazel has been spayed in the time she's been in rescue so we know she can handle surgery. Our next step is doing some tests on her eye to determine if the cataract is able to be removed. If she's a candidate for this procedure we'll get it done. Hazel has a hard time seeing because of the cataract and it often makes her nervous when there are sudden movements. We know she can lead a happier, more relaxed life with better vision.
Here is where you come in: the costs associated with these tests and possible surgery are high. We are counting on our LLOV supporters to help us raise $1,000 to get started on Hazel's treatment plan with the various tests that need to be performed. This sweet girl deserves the opportunity to see clearly - especially when she gets to see a forever family for the first time.
