Hello friends and family! I am proud Board Member for Companions on a Journey Grief Support. Companions on a Journey Grief Support, Inc. (COJ) offers support to anyone who has suffered the death of a loved one. The feelings that come with grief can cause a person to feel numb, lost, alone, angry and confused.

As many of you know, I lost my father, Thomas Sander, in January 2011. I had just began my professional career and though it was an exciting time professionally, I too felt numb, lost, alone, angry and confused. At 25 years old I struggled to balance being a son, brother, uncle, coworker, and friend. Though I don't often talk about the loss of my dad I struggle with his death to this day.

Everyday those that are experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one walk amongst us and, in many cases, we don't know the feelings they are experiencing. COJ works with families, mostly children inside local schools, to encourage them to understand that everyone grieves differently. Anything you can offer to this cause helps pay for services to the families that need it most.

Please consider supporting COJ on this "WOW WENDESDAY". Even a $5 donation will count towards the total number of donors who donate. As part of Cincinnati Gives (https://www.cincinnatigives.org/giving-events/cg21), every unique donor will count towards COJ's total donors and put us in position to collect an extra $1500 in prize money. That money will continue to help our outreach and grief support in the community.

Donations are not limited to just today and every bit of generosity will make a difference!

THANK YOU!!!

"Much like a butterfly, the struggles of children and teens in grief often go unnoticed" ~Maya Angelou

Last year, 49% of students who participated in COJ school-based support groups had experienced the death of a parent, and 58% had suffered the death of an immediate family member (parent or sibling).

In Ohio, it’s estimated that 1 in 11 children and teens will experience the death of a parent or sibling by their 18th birthday.

The Need is Great.  This is where YOU and I come in.

Through OUR generous support of Companions on a Journey, we can provide bereaved children, teens and adults with a safe space to process feelings of grief and loss, connect with a caring community of peers, and strengthen critical wellness and resiliency skills. Our support allows COJ to help each person navigate their grief journey; discovering their new normal as they move forward.

Join me TODAY by donating in honor of my father.  Thank You for helping me give back to COJ - they mean the world to me and so do you!
