New Horizons Service Dogs, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit, breeds, raises, trains and places service dogs free of charge to our recipients. We serve disabled recipients throughout the state of Florida from our offices and training facilities in Central Florida and Palm Beach County. Our tremendous ongoing, lifetime support is also at no cost to our recipients service dogs provide independence and profoundly affect the quality of life of our recipients, making them less dependent on their family and reducing need for attendant care.

■ Our recipients include adults, children as young as age five, senior citizens, and veterans from Florida and recent expansion to other states.

■ Close to half our recipients are children and adults that are wheelchair users or that have other mobility/balance challenges. We have highly specialized programs for children with autism and veterans. We also place Facility Dogs with rehabilitation centers and educational facilities for animal assisted intervention.

■ Simple daily tasks can be monumental for someone with a visible or invisible disability. Simple tasks like grocery shopping, going to a doctor’s office, turning on a light or opening a door can be a wearying challenge.

■We educate the public and raise awareness regarding the concerns of

people with disabilities.

■ Our service dog placement success rate has consistently exceeded 91%, and currently is 94%. New Horizons’ staff, volunteers and Board are all committed to removing any barriers to an enduring canine/recipient partnership.
