Wow, what a show of support!

Update posted 3 years ago

Wow, everyone, thank you for responding so positively to our fundraiser! We did not know what to expect, and we are blown away to see so much support for people at Stewart Detention Center and their loved ones. Last spring, we raised $11,886, and it looks like we might surpass that number, which would be amazing! Please keep sharing the link with anyone in your network who might want to walk alongside immigrants during this dark time in their lives. Thank you!

The past four months have been busy as ICE releases many people from Stewart Detention Center, while moving new people in, including a large number of women apprehended at the Southern border.

We have bought so many bus and plane tickets for people who have been released that we have already exceeded our annual budget. Our budget for commissary support for 2021 is almost depleted.

We are expanding family care to meet needs, and we are starting a mental health program.

With your gift, you walk with immigrants, no matter where they are in their journey and no matter where their journey leads.

We continue to provide hotline support, pen-pals, books, solidarity care packages, deportation bags (in partnership with Koinonia Farm), and legal referrals when possible.

As we expand services, we continue our advocacy work, which includes supporting individuals at SDC as they advocate for their freedom and advocating for ICE to #FreeThemAll and #ShutDownStewart.

Inside SDC, medical abuse, neglect, solitary confinement as medical isolation or punishment, and fear of retaliation remain common. Stewart Detention Center is still the cage of fear that it has always been.

Thank you for caring about immigrants at Stewart Detention Center and their loved ones!
