Jada “NewNew” Clay
Transplant Type: Kidney
Jada Clay is awaiting a new lease on life. She was born with sickle cell disease (SCD). Unfortunately, her family is all too familiar with illness, as her grandmother also suffers from SCD. By age 6, the disease had severely damaged her kidneys, and now, at only 12 years old, Jada has stage-5 kidney disease and is in renal failure. Doctors say a kidney transplant is critical.
During this difficult time, Jada is thankful for the love and support of her family who have been by her side every step of the way. Her mother, brother, two sisters, and the rest of her family worry about her health, but have kept a positive attitude through all of the hardships. Jada looks forward to being a kid again. She is ready to go back to school and play with her friends. But right now, she needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, Jada still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Jada lives more than an hour away from her transplant center, and traveling back and forth for appointments can be expensive. When she receives her transplant, she may have to temporarily relocate to be nearby while she recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Jada. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Jada Clay” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
