Jamille McMillan

Jamille McMillan is fighting for his life. In 2012, he was diagnosed with autoimmune pancreatitis. His disease has progressed and he has had to endure a total of 26 surgeries so far. Doctors now say a multi-visceral transplant is necessary for his survival.

He will need a new stomach, liver and small bowel. During this difficult time, Jamille is extremely grateful for the love and support of his wife, Latreva. He looks forward to receiving a transplant so he can live a normal life and be able to eat again after 8 years. Jamille wants nothing more than for his health to be restored so he can have more time with his family and friends.

But right now, he needs your help. The average small bowel transplant costs more than $1.5 million. And that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications.

Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Jamille’s transplant center is more than 400 miles from his home. He has to temporarily relocate to be near the transplant center while he recovers, incurring substantial expensesfor travel, food, and lodging.

His declining health forced him to quit working, doing what he loved to do. Jamille worked, as a laborer in Local 223 for over ten years and now that he's not able to work adds to the financial burden.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Jamille. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Transplant Foundation, 3249 W. Sarazens Cir, Ste 100, Memphis, TN 38125.  Please be sure to write "in honor of Jamille McMillan” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
