Will you join me in supporting Playwrights Foundation's Bay Area Playwrights Festival? This will be my first year as Executive Artistic Director at the Festival, and although the world is in crisis, I can't think of a better time to continue to support artists and the development of new stories that will uplift us and carry us through these times.

Now more than ever, we need stories that uplift, challenge, and create community, and we must support the playwrights who write those stories. Playwrights Foundation is committed to developing five playwrights’ new unproduced work in the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, hopefully in person, but online if necessary, to protect the health and safety of our writers, collaborators, and audiences. Either way, we will provide these playwrights with top notch professional Bay Area directors, dramaturgs, and actors to support their process and bring these stories to light.

Will you help lift up these stories by making a gift to our 43rd Bay Area Playwrights Festival? Gifts at all levels will be matched up to $15,000, thanks to two anonymous donors.

This Festival has become an important launchpad for emerging playwrights  -- in fact, close to 80% of the plays we develop receive a full production at a professional theater. Over the years, PF has amplified the voices of artists such as Katori Hall, Rajiv Joseph, George Brant, Marcus Gardley, Yusef El Guindi, Aaron Loeb, Liz Duffy Adams, Lauren Yee, Chris Chen, Lauren Gunderson and others who have gone on to transform the American theater with their work.

Help Playwrights Foundation find the next changemaker by supporting our 43rd Festival, and double your impact by having your gift matched today. Although we may all be at home now, one day soon we will be together again, experiencing these powerful new stories that we so desperately need. In the midst of our heartbreak over so many canceled productions, this is a way to look forward. If you can, will you please help us on that journey?

Donate today and be a part of the story. I also encourage you to join others in sharing a story of a playwright whose work has made a difference in your life. We all could use a reminder of the power of stories in this moment. Share this campaign and your story on Social Media and tag it with #BeaPartoftheStory and #playwrightsfoundation.

Encourage others to join the movement and #BeaPartoftheStory .
