Jessica Morrison - Can't Stop Won't Stop

I joined the Vermont Worker's Center in 2013, when as a nursing student I began to see the effects of a healthcare system that prioritizes what is profitable over what is needed by our communities. People struggle with inconsistent access to care, unsupported primary care providers, and delayed or rationed treatments due to cost.  Now working as a nurse practitioner I see every day how the insurance and profit-based healthcare system hurts patients and healthcare providers.  We need a system that treats healthcare as a right for all, not just those who can pay.

I think we can all see the huge problems that the world is facing today - war, racism, poverty, environmental destruction. I've been so grateful to call the worker's center my home for organizing for broader change. We recognize that fighting for our rights is a long-term struggle, and we need to get our communities organized to win.  Our work is not about mobilizing people to one event or rally or election - we are organizing our communities to have each other's backs for the long haul together.
