Will you be a gladiator of change?

Today you can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities impacted by cancer. Community is part of CSCCNJ. In order to save lives and live through and beyond a cancer diagnosis, people need connection: to each other, to healthcare resources and information, and to mental health mind-body support. Creating a space - in person or online - for relationships during an isolating health crisis saves lives. 

Your donation can help participants like Ana:

When Ana was diagnosed with cancer, she lived alone, felt isolated, had little support, and little access to transportation; all presenting her with a myriad challenges to receiving the care she needed, further complicated by financial issues. She felt defeated and did not have control over her treatment.

Ana connected with our bilingual social worker at a Hispanic-Latino community outreach event.

We provided her free transportation  where she had one-on-one counseling in a peaceful, non-clinical setting. Afterwards, she felt relieved and less stressed.  She was happy to connect with someone who understood the cancer journey in Spanish and could help her process her emotions, and enjoyed the opportunity to spend time outside of her home.

At our free Latino Family Day of Wellness, Ana attended with her children and grandchildren, together they learned how nutrition, yoga, and Zumba to feed the body and soul during cancer treatment. By the end of the day, Ana and her family made new friends and danced to the Zumba music with new-found confidence, knowing that she had a partner on her cancer journey.

Your donations will help our efforts to address barriers across the cancer continuum for vulnerable communities through a unique, replicable, hybrid model of outreach utilizing Public Health, Social Work, and Child Life expertise.
