When I was in college, I traveled with a group of friends from my construction club to New Orleans to help restore and build new homes for those family impacted by Hurricance Katrina. A few years after the disaster,  the damage was unimaginable - even being in the midst of the wreckage.  We ended up on the Habitat site - my first experience and opportunity to learn about the organization. The first day on site opened with a wall raising ceremony and the future homeowner stood in front of us and shared her story. My heart for this organization was forever changed. Fast forward twelve years and I am still involved with Habitat for Humanity and cannot imagine being anywhere else.
