Jimbo Barfield

Transplant Type: LiverJimbo Barfield is fighting for his life. In 2018 he became ill with what he thought was a virus, but it turned out to be a life-threatening liver disease. Jimbo’s illness takes a toll on his quality of life and leaves him very tired. Doctors say a liver transplant is critical to his survival.

During this difficult time, Jimbo is grateful for the love and support of his wife of 23 years, Amy, and their family and friends. Jimbo’s daughter, Ana, is a senior in high school and will graduate this year as the valedictorian. His son, Jimmy, is twelve and was diagnosed with autism when he was a toddler. The family is very close and Jimbo’s illness is hard on all of them--they worry a lot about his health.

Jimbo looks forward to receiving a transplant that will save his life and allow him to have more time with his wife and kids. He enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and going to church—but his health sometimes limits his activities now. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can enjoy life with his wife, watch his children grow up, and return to work. But right now he needs your help.

The average liver transplant costs approximately $878,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Jimbo lives more than 200 miles from his transplant center and has to travel back and forth for appointments. When he receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate to be nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Jimbo’s declining health forced him to stop working, further adding to his financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Jimbo. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Arkansas Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Jimbo Barfield” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
