Jimmy Messer
Transplant Type: Liver
Jimmy Messer is fighting for his life. Two years ago, Jimmy was diagnosed with cirrhosis with ascites, which causes an accumulation of fluid in the abdomen in addition to liver failure. Since then, his condition has deteriorated, and doctors now say a liver transplant is critical.
During this difficult time, Jimmy, is grateful for the support of his wife, Donna, and their family and friends, including his 3 children and 9 grandchildren. While his illness has been emotionally and financially taxing on his family, Jimmy is grateful for their tireless love. He wants nothing more than to receive a transplant so he can return to a life without illness, be able to get out more, and spend more time visiting with his family and friends. But right now he needs your help.
The average liver transplant costs approximately $740,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. As well, Jimmy had to quit working due to his declining health, adding to the financial burden of transplantation.
