Johnson Lake Community Playground Project

Have you visited Johnson Lake's new playground near the outlet canal at East Shore Dr 1? It's awesome! Thanks to the generous donations received over the past two years, this public playground is a fabulous addition to the lake community.

The Johnson Lake Community Playground was completed in Spring 2023. It includes playground structures, benches, landscaping, and a covered picnic area.

What's left? Donations to the Johnson Lake Community Playground Fund through Give BIG Lexington 2023 will be used to create a water source for watering trees and grass and installation of a proposed water bottle filling station.

Give now. As a donor to the project, we will be sure to send you project updates as well as an invitation to the ribbon cutting next spring. Thank you for helping us make the Johnson Lake Community Playground a featured attraction in this area!

Denker Memorial Playground

The Denker Memorial Playground was established in loving memory of Kay and Bill Denker in 2022. The playground was funded by monetary donations given in memory of Kay Denker with the support of the Lexington Community Foundation. Bill and Kay’s children: Mike, Curt, and Sarah, and their families, funded the rest of the playground. Bill and Kay always said, “The lake is for kids and dogs.”

Funds raised for the playground will be used for landscaping, additional playground equipment, a bench, a water bottle refill station, and a basketball hoop.

The playground is located between Bass Bay and Pelican Bay, which has a beautiful view of Johnson Lake during the day and a star-filled sky at night. Kay and Bill would be overjoyed to know the playground continues to be used by many families.
