Under the Trump Administration's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, commonly referred to as Food Stamps) new administrative rule, an estimated 15,222 DMV residents will lose access to benefits. The new rule removes states' with unemployment rates ability to waive a three month (per every three years) time-limit on benefits on 18- through 49-year-olds with no minors in the home, unless they are employed for at least 20 hours a week. This will likely affect those who are homeless, work seasonally, have educational barriers and don’t have a high school or college degree.
The Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) will be a critical community resources in proving affected individuals nutritious food and is planning to increase its spending slightly over $200,000 a month or about $2.5 million a year too address this need.
Let's help them meet this and fight back against a harmful Trump Administration policy!
