Joseph R. Stewart, II

Transplant Type: Kidney

Joseph R. Stewart II is awaiting a new lease on life. In 2015, he found out he had chronic kidney disease, which has progressed into end stage renal disease. Joseph had been living with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol leading up to this diagnosis.  Now doctors say a kidney transplant is critical to Joseph’s survival. Unfortunately, he is no stranger to this illness; diabetes runs in his family. Two of his uncles had kidney disease and needed dialysis.

During this difficult time, he is thankful for the incredible love and support of his wife of fourteen years, Crystal, and their two children, a three-year-old daughter and an nine-year-old son. Luckily, Joseph has been able to continue enjoying his favorite activities, like golfing and spending time with his family. He looks forward to feeling more energetic and spending many more years with his wife and kids!

The average kidney transplant costs approximately $335,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Joseph still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Joseph. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Joseph Stewart" on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
