Supporting the National Black Justice Coalition!

Hi, everyone! My name is Josh Higdon, I use they/them pronouns, and I am making this fundraising page to help fundraise to support The National Black Justice Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting racism, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of discrimination. 

I, and every member of the LGBTQIA+ community, enjoy my rights today thanks to the struggles and sacrifices of Black queer people who came before us. I can exist in public and have the countless privileges of being a white, queer male-presenting person thanks to the struggles of Black queer people. Marsha P. Johnson fought for my rights at Stonewall. Audre Lorde made ~impactful~ contributions to feminist theory, queer theory, and critical race theory that have taught me so much about my queerness and my identities. Phill Wilson advocated for those with HIV and AIDS, and helped advocate for increased HIV testing, which I benefit from now. My life wouldn't be the same without so many Black queer people, which is why I proudly support The National Black Justice Foundation. Their goals to help bridge the gap between racial justice and LGBTQIA+ equity is so very important, and I am proud to help support that goal. 

I am launching this campaign in conjunction with a campaign with The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is an organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth and their mental health. I am launching both campaigns on March 15th, 2022, the four-year anniversary of my last attempt. I have received countless support from so many people that have helped me in my mental health journey. Thanks to endless love and support from my mom, friends, and family, I have learned to love myself and my queerness. I have created campaigns with The Trevor Project and The National Black Justice Foundation so that queer people, especially Black queer people, can love themselves and be proud to be their true and authentic selves.
