Juliette Lelchuk
Transplant Type: Kidney
Update: Juliette received a transplant on May 16, 2019!
Juliette Lelchuk is awaiting a new lease on life. Throughout her 20’s and into her 30’s, Juliette’s kidney function steadily decreased without doctors understanding why. She was finally diagnosed with stage-4 chronic kidney disease. Although it is still unknown whether or not Juliette’s condition is hereditary, her mother also suffers from kidney failure and is currently on dialysis. Juliette also has a number of other medical issues, but no conclusive link has yet been drawn to her kidney disease. With currently 16% kidney function and falling, doctors say a transplant is necessary for her survival.
During this difficult time, Juliette is thankful for the love and support of her family and friends. When her health allows, she enjoys dancing, cycling, hiking, camping, cooking, baking, and gardening. She wants nothing more than to be healthy again and enjoy a normal life. But right now, she needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $442,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Juliette still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself, and they can cost upwards of $2000 a month.
