Update posted 6 years ago

On the next to last day of October 2017, Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation accepted 14 new arrivals from Puerto Rico, bringing the total to more than 150 dogs and cats coming to us from Hurricane-affected areas since the beginning of September. This time, the arrivals included animals who had been exposed to contagious disease and required quarantine. It was an extra burden of care and commitment of resources, and we were more than happy to do it.

Four of the new arrivals were young puppies who had to be hospitalized- two with the parvovirus (a very serious disease requiring around the cock care) and two with parasites their bodies couldn't fight off on their own. We are committed to seeing these most fragile ones through and getting them on the road  to adoption, whatever the cost.

We are also committed to being a longterm ally  to animals and the people who love them in areas affected by disaster.

For now, we have extended our rental of the "pop up" kennel in Falls church through the beginning of December, and we will continue to accept animals in need there and at the Lost Dog Ranch, providing the loving and quality care they deserve, thanks to you.

When our friends at San Antonio Pets Alive reached out to ask us to take animals so that they could help more animals impacted by Hurricane Harvey, we had to say yes. We knew we could count on the LDCRF community to step up and help us help them, even though it will require a lot of financial resources.

One of the biggest needs of shelters in Texas is to move animals who were up for adoption prior to the Hurricane hitting out of the state, so that those shelters can have room for owned animals rescued during Harvey until they can be reunited with their families. At LDCRF we are currently at capacity, but we found a space to board the animals, and look forward to being able to help.

Please consider helping us help our friends by making a donation of whatever you can afford, we have currently committed to 20 dogs, but are standing by to assist more.

What your donation does:

$3.50 will cover the cost of food for a dog for one day.
$20 will cover the cost of boarding for a dog for one day.
$17 for cover a dose of dewormer for one  dog for day.
