YOUR GENEROSITY WILL ALLOW CHILDREN OF THE INCARCERATED TO EXPERIENCE STABILITY, OPPORTUNITY, AND A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY THIS SUMMER.
I have been a part of Kidz2Leaders since 2012 and I have seen the tremendous growth of the organization and the youth that we have worked with. I started with the Interns4Tomorrow program as a mentor and business coach and joined the board of directors in 2018. I'm proud to say that we have fulfilled our goal to break the cycle of incarceration through mentorship, family support and our annual summer camps. During this covid19 crisis, I know it's tough for a lot of families and especially for our K2L families. If you are able, I would really appreciate any donation you could make so we can continue our programming for 2020 as planned!
Our mission is to break the cycle of incarceration by providing stability, opportunity, and a safe community to children of inmates. We accomplish this by helping them rise above their circumstances, empowering them to become leaders, and providing a life of hope through intentional, faith-based programming in a loving environment.
OUR NEED
The PPP provision of the CARES Act will help sustain our ministry in the short term. Your donations toward ongoing operations will ensure services continue through the summer and into 2021. We are currently reworking our budgets to accommodate the following programming changes that have become necessary.
Impact of our current environment on our programming:
- Kidz2Leaders' Annual Golf Tournament benefiting Camp Hope - This event, our primary spring fundraising event scheduled for April 27, had to be cancelled.
- Camp Hope - While our May session has been postponed, we are actively planning for Camp Hope in July. If overnight camp is ultimately deemed unsafe, we will deliver our messages of love, forgiveness, trust, joy, and servant leadership through smaller day camp sessions or small group mentoring and discipleship.
- Interns4Tomorrow - Monthly I4T training has continued via Zoom with strong participation from students and volunteers Students will maintain the opportunity to earn income this summer, even if in-office internships are impossible. Alternative plans include remote work, online certifications, special projects, and virtual mentoring.
- Family & Alumni Support - We have facilitated over $13,000 in financial assistance since March thanks to Stand Together and private donors. Staff continue to connect families with food, housing and employment resources. Parents and alumni have found connection through our recurring Bible studies on Zoom, and individual check-ins.
