Our goal is to convince WI to allow health dollars into our schools for mental health and more!

Following the terrible school shooting tragedy in Florida, conservatives across America are quick to explain it away as a problem of mental health. Let's be clear, this country needs to overhaul its gun laws. But we also believe that there absolutely needs to be more funding for mental health services and substance use disorder prevention programs in schools. Stress, trauma and opioids threaten urban and rural communities alike. And there is something that our state government leaders can do about it right now, if they truly believe what they are saying.

Wisconsin has the ability, like other states have already done, to tap into available federal health dollars to fund school health staff such as school nurses, social workers and more, to offer preventive services like mental health and substance use screenings. If our state were to just ask the federal government for it, schools across Wisconsin could hire school nurses & other health workers to help care for our children, ESPECIALLY in rural and urban districts, at no cost to the state!
