K9 Eddy is a one-and-a-half-year old German Shepherd assigned to Deputy Paul Spry of the Cook County’s Sheriff’s Office located in Grand Marais, Minnesota. The K9 team is certified in both Patrol and Narcotics. K9 Eddy is playful, social and loves to cuddle; but, he is all business when on the job protecting his handler and his community.

K9 Eddy is in need of a multi-threat vest; and, here’s how this equipment both helps Eddy and Deputy Spry on the job!
A multi-threat vest protects against standard issue caliber rounds for common guns and offers additional protection for stabbing weapons, like prison shanks or other blunt force puncture objects. This protection comes in a carrier made of a rip-stop material that helps to deflect punctures as well. This equipment provides the same level of protection that the human counterparts of these K9s are required to wear for their job. This protection level was selected by the Cook County Sheriff's Office from the two options offered by Hero K9 for optimal protection of K9 Eddy.

NOTE: The funds collected as part of this fundraiser will be allocated by the Cook County Chamber Foundation to the Cook County Sheriff's Office Equipment Grant Application with Hero K9 for K9 Eddy. Should the application status change and/or if donations received are in excess of the goal amount, donations will be directed to the organization’s general fund to provide additional equipment grants and cover operational costs and/or other business-related expenses.
