Susie Titsworth
Transplant Type: Heart
Susie Titsworth is fighting for her life. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2010, when she had her first heart attack. Unfortunately, along with family history of the disease, radiation and chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer seems to have sped up her heart issues. Doctors now say a heart transplant is critical to her survival.
During this difficult time, Susie is grateful for the love and support of her family and friends. She has two children, Hayden and Harlee, and her illness has been really hard on them. While it’s difficult for them to watch her be sick and go in and out of the hospital, they are a tough, tight-knit family. Susie’s illness also makes it impossible for her to do the things she enjoys, such as working in her yard or going swimming. More than anything, she looks forward to being able to spend more time with her family, be it going to the zoo or Frontier City, just walking around and enjoying each day. But, right now, she needs your help.
The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million. And that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Additionally, Susie is currently on disability. Due to her declining health, her work in medical billing began to be too stressful, so she had to quit, adding to the financial strain on her family.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Susie. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Susie Titsworth” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
