Kevin Crowe

Transplant Type: Double Lung

Update: Kevin received a transplant on December 11, 2019!

Kevin Crowe is awaiting a new lease on life. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Alpha-1 is a genetic disease, and Kevin didn’t realize he had it until his symptoms began. Since his diagnosis, his lung function has decreased.  Kevin now requires the assistance of supplemental oxygen to help him breathe. Doctors say a double-lung transplant is critical to his survival.

During such a difficult time, Kevin is thankful for the love and support of his wife of 35 years, Bonnie, and their family and friends. Kevin and Bonnie have two children, Joe and Jamie-Lynn, one granddaughter, and a grandson due later this year. Kevin’s illness prevents him from being the active husband, father, and grandfather he longs to be. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will allow him to be free from supplemental oxygen and improve his quality of life. He enjoys hunting, fishing, boating, and riding his motorcycle, but his health prevents him from doing most of those activities now. Kevin wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can enjoy the simple things in life like going for a walk with his wife, playing with his granddaughter, and mowing his yard. But right now, he needs your help.

The average double-lung transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Kevin lives more than 100 miles away from his transplant center and traveling back and forth for appointments is expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate to be nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Although Kevin is still working, it is becoming increasingly difficult. When he receives his transplant, he will be off work for a significant time, further adding to his financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Kevin. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Maine Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Kevin Crowe” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
