“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill
Dear Friend,In the generous spirit of this quote, we humbly ask that you give a brief moment of your time to understand how you can extend the life of Kevin Mitchell by what you give.
ABOUT KEVIN: He was diagnosed with a Wilm’s tumor, a rare kidney cancer that primarily affects children, when he was only eighteen months old. The aggressive treatment that Kevin received has caused a lifetime of physical issues, leaving him with only one kidney and unable to have children of his own. By twenty-seven years old, Kevin had suffered from severe hypertension, kidney disease, diabetes and gout. At present, invasive treatments no longer serve to extend Kev’s quality of life, and they are taking a toll on his body, resulting in less than 30% kidney function.
Kevin’s body is growing tired and Doctors now say that a kidney transplant is urgently necessary.Today, Kevin is a loving husband to his soulmate and wife of twenty years, Michelle, a loving step-father to their son, and a loving and giving friend to all those in need. Kevin has always been highly involved in the music scene, playing bass and providing back-up vocals for many bands in and round Texas, and performing in countless music benefits and charity showcases throughout this time. Kevin is one of the most up-beat, welcoming, and warm souls that you will ever meet and has a fighting spirit that has had to overcome every health obstacle that life has thrown his way. He has always done so with a smile on his face and without ever asking for help.
Now, Kev needs all of us to show him that all of the good he has done for others will come back to him in his time of need. Kevin recently learned that he has already scaled half of the mountain because he received the miraculous news that his wife, Michelle, is a PERFECT MATCH to serve as his living donor!
This is where we need your help to conquer what remains of the mountain.
The average kidney transplant costs approximately $442,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Kevin.
If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Texas Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Kevin Mitchell” in the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
