Kevin Neuman
Transplant Type: Double Lung
Update: Kevin received a transplant on July 14, 2019!
Kevin Neuman is awaiting a new lease on life. In 2018, he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (PLCH), a rare lung disease. His diagnosis came as a shock, as there is no family history of the disease. He now requires the assistance of supplemental oxygen to help him breathe and doctors say a double-lung transplant is critical to his survival.
During such a difficult time, Kevin is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Kyra, and their family and friends. Kevin has a 7-year-old daughter, and his illness makes him unable to be the active husband and father he longs to be. His health causes a lot of worry for his loved ones, and prevents him from spending as much time with his family as he would like. Kevin looks forward to receiving a transplant that will allow him to be free from supplemental oxygen and improve his quality of life. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can be more active, take part in sports with his family, and live his life to the fullest. But right now, he needs your help.
The average double-lung transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Kevin lives 165 miles away from his transplant center, and traveling back and forth for appointments is expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate to be nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Kevin had to stop working as a plumber due to his declining health, further adding to his financial burdens.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Kevin. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Kevin Neuman” on the memo line.
