Austin has been struggling with a packed colon for far too long!

Austin has been hospitalized. He and his siblings were rescued during a TNR effort. It from the start that Austin was struggling more than the rest of his litter. They all had URIs but there was something more with Austin. He couldn't seem to poop and hasn't been eating.

We got him to the vet, who found that Austin has a packed colon. In other words, he has a large, hard mass of stool that is stuck so badly, he can't push it out. He's likely been suffering this way some time, because his gut isn't even working to pass anything through! His vet tried a medicated enema, which didn't help. He is now on IV fluids and sugar to provide some nutrition. Once he's better hydrated, we will be starting him on medication to help things move along.

This poor little guy must be miserable! Constipation is no joke. He can't poop. He doesn't want to eat, which is especially critical for a kitten! Without help, he will continue to suffer and likely fade away. We're hopeful this treatment plan will be just the ticket to getting him back to feeling like the playful, energetic kitten he should be.
