Krystal Gambrel
Transplant Type: Heart
Krystal Gambrel is fighting for her life. She was diagnosed with hypertrophic subaortic stenosis when she was only 15 years old. Her diagnosis came as a shock, as there is no family history of heart disease. Now, 16 years later, her condition has progressed to the point that doctors say a heart transplant is critical to her survival.
During this difficult time, Krystal is grateful for the love and support of her family and friends. She looks forward to receiving a transplant that will remove her pain and allow her to live her life to the fullest. When her health allows, she enjoys playing with her dogs, photography, scrapbooking, watching movies, and playing video games, but these days, her activities are quite limited. Krystal wants nothing more than to feel better so she can enjoy a normal life with her loved ones. But right now she needs your help.
Unfortunately, Krystal’s hope for a new life comes at a very high price.
The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million. And, that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Krystal lives 70 miles from her transplant center and has to travel back and forth for appointments. When she receives her transplant, she will have to stay nearby while she recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Krystal. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Krystal Gambrel” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
