For ten years now, Sunshine donors have helped create smiles though a special fund set aside for dental work for men, women and children with developmental disabilities.
The fund is Susan’s Smiles of Happiness, named for Susan Hamilton, who for 28 years faced her disabilities with an unrelenting smile – bringing joy to her entire family. Susan, who had multiple disabilities, including cerebral palsy, died in 2009 having lived at Sunshine for 12 years. Sadly, not everyone with developmental disabilities like Susan has access to adequate dental care.
In her honor, Susan’s family started Susan’s Smiles of Happiness, which provides dental care for individuals supported at Sunshine through donations. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Susan’s Smiles of Happiness, we remember Susan and her beautiful smile that she shined so brightly.
We also extend a special thanks to Susan’s family for creating Susan’s legacy. Because of their foresight and the generation donations of others, 22 individuals at Sunshine were able to get specialized dental work in 2018, alone!
