Kwetu means our home in Swahili.

Since opening our doors in 2022, Kwetu Haven has been exactly that for 100+ children a safe place to land after abuse, abandonment, trafficking, or exploitation. But Kwetu Haven was never meant to be a permanent home, it was meant to be a bridge.

A bridge back to family.

We are raising $10,000 in 10 days to keep that bridge open.

What makes Nisria different?

Most rescue homes keep children, we don’t.

Nisria’s model is built on one core belief: most children have family members who want to care for them and simply need support to do so. So when a child arrives at Kwetu Haven, we stabilize them, trace their family, and work toward reunification and supporting guardians with education sponsorships, food programs, and income support so families can stay together long term.

We measure success by empty beds.

A child who leaves Kwetu Haven to go home is the goal every single time.

What happens when a child arrives?

They arrive with nothing, sometimes no shoes, sometimes no name they feel safe using.

In the first 24 hours they receive emergency shelter, food, clean clothing, medical attention if needed, and lots of love. Then the real work begins finding their family, healing the wounds, and building a path home.

$100 funds one child’s complete intake.

$1,000 brings 10 children one step closer to home.

Give a gift | Receive a piece of the story.

Nisria is more than a rescue home. To sustain Kwetu Haven, we built two projects run by and for the women and youth in our community.

Maisha By Nisria is an upcycled fashion studio in Gilgil, Kenya. Our artisans transform second hand fabrics into original garments and in doing so, have built something the world noticed. Maisha has been featured in Vogue Italy, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, and a few more publications, and has showcased at Nairobi Fashion Week and Dubai Design Week.

AHADI By Nisria is a handcrafted jewelry line made by artisans in Kibera, Nairobi. AHADI means promise in Swahili, a promise of dignity, skills, and economic independence for every artisan who makes each piece.

Both exist for one reason: to fund the children at Kwetu Haven.

When you give at the tiers below, we send you a handcrafted piece from one of these projects to wear, to keep, and to tell. Every piece carries the story of the artisan who made it and the children it protects

💙 AHADI Tier | $300

One handcrafted AHADI brass jewelry piece, made by artisans building dignified livelihoods in Kibera, Nairobi.

Funds 3 children’s path home.

🌿 Maisha Tier | $500

One upcycled Maisha garment from Gilgil, the same label featured in Vogue Italy and showcased at Nairobi Fashion Week and Dubai Design Week.

Funds 5 children’s path home.

✨ Pamoja Tier | $1,000

Both one AHADI brass jewelry piece and one Maisha garment. Pamoja means together in Swahili and together, your gift sends 10 children home.

Funds 10 children’s complete rescue and reunification intake.

Every gift at any amount matters.

$25 feeds a child for a week.

$50 covers emergency clothing on arrival.

Every dollar goes directly to Kwetu Haven’s rescue and reunification operations.
