Help us support families for 20 more years

Let me tell you a bit about why my time and money are spent with Family Promise. I hope you will see fit to share even a little bit of what you have to support our families.

I have always had a soft spot for homeless people.  I think it’s from watching my mother help them whenever I remember our paths crossing with them.  Growing up with that example and knowing that I am called directly by Jesus to help the less fortunate made Family Promise's goal incredibly compelling.  

Simply put Family Promise is focused on helping families stay together while they work towards self sufficiency.  They do this by partnering with area congregations of any faith to utilize their unused facility space during the week to house the families.  In Chattanooga it means that on average a family stays with us for around 50 days as they walk the path from homeless to housed with income to support them.

Serving these people in a more hands on role than feeding them occasionally has really taught me that they are just like many of us who aren't in their situation except for a little bad luck and a lack of a support network that can help them out when bad luck strikes.

I am grateful everyday that I get to serve with the board of trustees of Family Promise.
