I'm Cain Gantt, and I make music as Cain Without Abel. I've been making sounds for 11 years, writing and performing my own music for 5, and spent 3 playing in various jazz groups at Georgia College. In May 2020, I graduated with Bachelor's degrees in mathematics and physics. I am currently working on a MSc in mathematical physics, and I plan to pursue a career in scientific research and to eventually become a professor.

All of this is a long-winded way to say that I am just a hobby musician. I make music to create connections and share experiences. I write songs because I think it’s fun. I do not depend on album sales or streaming revenues to afford my rent or pay for groceries, and I recognize it is an incredible privilege to invest my time and money into a hobby that is completely unrelated from my profession.

During the first wave of COVID-19 lockdowns, I wrote and recorded "Jar of Change" in a little place I called home in Milledgeville, Georgia. In it, I repeat that “change is hard to come by these days,” but that’s not entirely true. Change happens when communities come together towards a goal, when we focus our efforts on a single action.

That is why I want to raise $1,000 for HOPE Atlanta this Spring. HOPE Atlanta is a nonprofit that helps the Metro Atlanta area by targeting homelessness and hunger on many fronts. They perform outreach into homeless communities, including pandemic related education and testing. They help families and individuals establish a more secure living situation with a support system during and after providing housing. HOPE Atlanta does all of this and much more, and I call on you to join me in supporting their efforts.

In addition to your donations, I will also contribute any streaming revenue, song purchases, etc. that the track generates, at least through the end of the fundraiser. However, I cannot say I expect it to be very much. That is why I will also separately match up to $250 with my own donation.

If you've read this far, thank you. Spread the word, and together we can help the Atlanta area thrive throughout these challenging times.
