The Fight Behind Our Forks

Hello! Our names are Katin Sarner and Bella Youmazzo. We are currently in recovery from our own eating disorders, and went to residential treatment together when we were in the depths of our disorders. We have since made it our mission to do everything in our power to prevent the onset of eating disorders in adolescent students, as we both developed our eating disorders at the age of 14.

Our organization, The Fight Behind Our Forks, works to raise awareness of contributory factors that lead to potentially fatal eating disorders, as well as disordered eating, all too often. Eating disorders are the #1 cause of death, over any other mental illness. There are over 30 million reported cases of eating disorders in the United States, with someone dying of an eating disorder every 62 minutes. Eating disorders, especially in the pre-adolescent as well as adolescent age groups, are becoming a pandemic.

We are raising money to officially register as a nonprofit, as well as get a booth at the Los Angeles National Eating Disorder Awareness Walk!
