Leroy Alford

Transplant Type: Kidney

Leroy Alford is awaiting a new lease on life. He was diagnosed with renal disease in 2016. Leroy has been on dialysis since 2018, which leaves him tired and has taken a toll on his quality of life. He now faces end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.

During this difficult time, Leroy is thankful for the love and support of his wife, January, and their family and friends. He has four children ranging in age from 8 to 23, and his illness causes stress and worry for his family. Leroy looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from dialysis and give him back his energy. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and working, but his illness limits his activities now. Leroy wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can enjoy more years with his family and return to work. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Leroy lives 150 miles away from his transplant center, and traveling back and forth for appointments can be expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to stay nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Leroy’s declining health and dialysis schedule forced him to stop working, further adding to his financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Leroy. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT South Carolina Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Leroy Alford” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
